Angin Yang Ganjil

from Poskad Dari Malaysia by Az Samad

about

This song was inspired by many things.

The original melody was really influenced by the music of jazz guitarists Julian Lage, Jimmy Wyble and John Stowell. All these jazz guitarists often used large chord structures. What this meant was it was basically more difficult to play the chords! I really love the sound of the opening phrase and wanted to keep the song close to this original idea.

I wrote the first idea in less than half an hour after reading a blog post by Julian Lage. You can check it out by clicking here. Julian kept this blog to keep make himself write new music back in 2011. It’s funny how a blog post can still inspire new creations years later. I guess this is no different than someone reading a classic book and be inspired to write their own stories.
